Does our 48V e-scooter pack need an EU battery passport?
Yes. A 48V e-scooter pack is a light means of transport (LMT) battery, so it needs a digital battery passport for every unit sold in the EU from 18 February 2027.
From your vault: your UN 38.3 report is valid, but there is no EN 50604-1 safety report for this model yet. You will also need material and origin data from your cell supplier.

The EU battery passport becomes mandatory on 18 February 2027.
From 18 February 2027, every EV battery, light-vehicle battery (e-bikes, e-scooters, swappable 2W/3W packs) and industrial battery above 2 kWh sold in the EU needs a digital battery passport with a QR code. Without it, the battery cannot be sold in the EU.
